Once people have experienced the effectiveness DSG, they often want to bring it immediately to the organizations of which they are part. One of the biggest challenges in doing this is that the DSG processes tend to surface previously unaddressed and sometimes painful issues early in the implementation process. Thus, initial implementation requires a higher level of facilitation skill than after an organization is experienced in the process.
This course is designed to help bridge the gap. In addition to learning DSG's third decision-making process (Decision-Making Without a Proposal) and to gaining coached practice with all three decision-making techniques, participants will also learn about many of the challenging situations that can arise when previously unaddressed, and often charged, issues surface. The course offers concrete, practical and tested strategies for dealing with these situations and supports participants in trying these strategies out in the "learning laboratory" of the course before attempting to use them in the higher-stakes territory of their own organizations.
Prerequisite: Introduction to DSG
Length: Six 2-hour teleclass sessions, or a 2¼-day in-person workshop

This course will be offered for the first time starting in January 2007. Part train-the-trainer course, part mentoring series, this course is for people who are ready to bring DSG group decision-making tools to an organization to which they belong. It covers how to talk about DSG and to gain the "okay" to experiment with it, how to set the agenda for the initial DSG-structured meeting so people will see the value of the process, and what key decisions to cover in your first few meetings.
The course also offers mentoring and coaching support. As participants complete each of the steps in introducing DSG to an organization, they are invited to bring their successes and their challenges back to the group for inspiration, support and guidance. To allow time for the "real life" experience, a key element of this course, the later sessions will be offered 2 to 4 weeks apart.

In each session, the participants select one or two of their challenges or opportunities with DSG, explore options, and develop strategies to address the challenge/opportunity. For those seeking dynamic self-governance facilitator certification, this class is an excellent opportunity to get support and to practice your skill set with a coach present.
